Raf Simons announced that on October 23, 2020 he will present his first women's clothing line , with a co-ed show. After the announcement of the creative co-direction alongside Miuccia Prada , the Belgian designer reserves the second twist for us. Trained in Industrial and Furniture Design in Genk , and after having worked as a right-hand man in Van Beirendonck's atelier and with Linda Loppa , he immediately understood that he wanted to devote himself to the world of fashion, instead of working as an interior designer. With the experimental background of Antwerp , he proves to have a revolutionary approach, based on the reinterpretation of men's formal wear and 90s subcultures. Raf Simons made his debut in Autumn-Winter 1997 , parading at the Impasse de Mont-Louis in Paris with a collection influenced by punk style, Bauhaus architecture and the aesthetics of the electronic music group Kraftwerk. However, it left the scene after only two years in 1999 . In 2000 he signed a contract with the producer CIG , returning to the menswear collections. He then formed a collaboration with the photographer David Sims with whom he developed the first photographic publication “ Isolated Heros ”. At the same time he curates two exhibitions: “ The Fourth Sex ” at Pitti Immagine in Florence together with Francesco Bonami and “ Guided by Heroes in Hasselt ” in Belgium. In 2005 he was appointed creative director of Jil Sander , where he also experimented with women's wardrobe for the first time. In 2012 he takes the place of John Galliano from Dior , for the direction of the womenswear collection, where he reinterprets the distinctive elements of the brand with his own aesthetic. Subsequently, leaving the Maison Dior , he becomes the creative director of Calvin Klein where he will remain for about two years. In February 2020, his creative co-direction of Prada is announced, which will debut during Milan fashion week on 24 September.
