In the midst of Milan Fashion Week, the eight-level store welcomes Pradasphere, which opens to the public on Sept. 23.

Since it was founded in 1913, Prada has never followed suit when it comes to the past. Rather, it views its history as a set of concepts driven by instinct, partnership, and cerebral trades. 113 years later, that perspective is what drives the luxury house's latest undertaking: The Prada Galleria.
Retail, hospitality, art, and history come together as one through eight floors. Located at Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the store connects with the brand's historic Fratelli Prada, expanding Prada's presence at the 19th-century shopping arcade.
Led by creative director Miuccia Prada, the space expresses the brand's and family's history while honing in on the fact that Prada has an ever-evolving background rather than a fixed one. Areas like art, architecture, cinema, culture, and sport are not just influences; they are collaborators of the brand.
Allowing different facets of what makes the brand one-of-a-kind is crucial to Prada Galleria, especially given how complex Prada's identity is. Influences, ideas, and more than a century-long background take shape at the store, which can only be experienced in Milan.

Throughout each floor, the expansion of the Prada universe takes shape through renovations, larger spaces, and chapters that have shaped the brand in the past few decades of its existence.
Nestled in the original site of Fratelli Prada, the Prada Donna store doubled its display space while bringing womenswear, home, and beauty offerings together as one. Other features of the boutique include an extended travel area, historic murals, and archival objects. Now, Prada Uomo is located diagonally across from Prada Donna is, which is now connected to the sister store through a new underground passage to easily go between the two locations.
That passage is known as the Passaggio Segreto, which is a tunnel that spotlights lesser-known moments of Prada's history via an exhibition. Objects that realize the brand's early intuitions not only embody the Prada methodology but also the company's "firsts" that are still seen on the runway today.
Right above the Uomo store is Marchesi 1824, the iconic Milanese pastry shop that invites all to experience artisanal delicacies à la Milanese café culture. Going one floor up, the Pradasphere reveals itself across the piano nobile as the first permanent exhibition in honour of the brand's 1913 founding of Fratelli Prada to today.

Following the success of stops in London, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, the experience is a living record of the brand's legacy since its inception. Many artifacts from Prada's archive are on view for the first time, which is key to the areas that Prada heavily collaborates with. On the second floor, the Studio's salon-style rooms serve as an elegant shopping appointment space and the central hall for private events.
The Appartamento realizes an 18th-century apartment that is decorated with works by internationally renowned photographic artist Andreas Gursky. The invitation-only area is meant for special occasions and private dinners, which is great due to the balance of contemporary art and antique Italian furniture present in the space. Oh, and don't forget the view of the Galleria's stunning mosaics.
To conclude the exciting launch of Prada Galleria, the Osservatorio Fondazione Prada is dedicated to the visual research and experimentation that intersects with technology, modern culture, and artistic expression. As a base of Fondazione Prada, new forms of image-making and media are created within the space while learning about the ways visual language adapts to social, political, and technological changes in the present.
