His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, has passed away today at the age of 99. The news was confirmed earlier today by Her Majesty The Queen, who said in a statement: &quot;His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.&quot; The Duke of Edinburgh was the longest-serving consort in British history as his marriage with The Queen was over 73 years long.

Prince Philip will lie in rest at Windsor Castle before his funeral at St. George&#39;s Chapel. While the public may not attend, we expect many senior members of the Royal Family to attend.&nbsp;With COVID-19 still a real concern, Prince Philip&#39;s funeral will certainly look different. First of all, the funeral won&#39;t be a state funeral as his wishes were such that he didn&#39;t want that kind of &quot;craziness&quot; made over him and his death.

Due to its 800-capacity, St. George&#39;s Chapel can host a large yet socially distanced funeral, that would respect Philip&#39;s wishes and the coronavirus rules. However, current rules in England state that no more than 30 may attend a funeral. For these reasons, the list of invitees will include only a small number of people.&nbsp;

The young royal had plans to visit England this summer to celebrate Prince Philip&#39;s 100th Birthday, and he will more than likely attend Prince Philip&#39;s funeral.

As she is quite pregnant, it may be assumed that she will not make the long trip back to England for the funeral. Generally speaking, those over 39 weeks pregnant do not normally travel. No expecting mother would want undue stress, and any trip back to England would be very stressful for the former actress.

Prince Harry and Meghan drew backlash late Friday as they released a statement on the Duke&#39;s death that was notedly reserved and, quite frankly short. When Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away last year,&nbsp; Meghan herself wrote a long note of condolence.

It is common for heads of state to attend the funerals of royals, although it is rare for royals like the Queen to attend funerals of commoners (the one occasion was when Queen Elizabeth attended the funeral of Winston Churchill in 1965.)
