Lady Gaga, Jennifer Hudson, and Leonardo DiCaprio are among the biggest names (surprisingly) not nominated for one of this year's Academy Awards.

Every year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hosts the Oscars to honor the film industry's best work from the previous in every area from acting to sound mixing. This year, films like <a href="https://www.lofficiel.co.uk/fashion/sag-awards-2022-winners-red-carpet-fashion-style" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Power of the Dog</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficiel.co.uk/film-tv/timothee-chalamet-confirms-dune-part-two-instagram-zendaya-movie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dune</a>, <a href="https://www.lofficiel.co.uk/fashion/sag-awards-2022-winners-red-carpet-fashion-style" target="_blank" rel="noopener">West Side Story</a>, Belfast, King Richard&nbsp;were among the most-nominated projects going into the 2022 Academy Awards. While the list of <a href="https://www.lofficiel.co.uk/beauty/best-makeup-and-hairstyling-nominees-2022-oscars" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2022 Oscar nominees</a> included a series of stellar artists, every year, there are still a few names that shockingly don't receive the coveted statuette (or even a nomination). Following the ceremony, L'OFFICIEL looks are some of the most award-worthy performers and directors from the past year that were snubbed from the 2022 Oscar nominations, as well as the biggest upsets from the evening.&nbsp;

Jennifer Hudson's exquisite performance as Aretha Franklin in the biopic Respect&nbsp;won her a SAG award nomination along with critical acclaim, it was almost expected for at least an Oscar nom, to no avail.&nbsp;

Although <a href="https://www.lofficiel.co.uk/pop-culture/house-of-gucci-premiere-red-carpet-lady-gaga-jared-leto-salma-hayek" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House of Gucci</a> was met with mixed reviews, it was still generally expected for <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/lady-gaga-house-of-gucci-red-carpet-premiere-fashion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lady Gaga</a> to earn a nomination for her performance, especially given her publicness around her immersion in the role.&nbsp;

<a href="https://www.lofficiel.co.uk/pop-culture/the-cult-of-jared-leto" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jared Leto</a>'s dramatic transformation as Paolo Gucci for the film, unfortunately, did not earn him an acting nod from the Academy either.

<a href="https://www.lofficiel.co.uk/film-tv/zendaya-timothee-chalamet-premiere-london-red-carpet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dune</a> is the film with the second-highest amount of Oscar nominations, however, the project's ambitious director Denis Villeneuve was not included in the list of nominees for Best Director.

Along with Hudson, <a href="https://www.lofficiel.co.uk/pop-culture/lady-gaga-and-bradley-cooper-perform-shallow-at-the-oscars">Bradley Cooper</a> earned a SAG Award nomination for his performance in Licorice Pizza,&nbsp;which meant good prospects for the Oscars, to which he was shorted.&nbsp;

The famously snubbed <a href="https://www.lofficiel.co.uk/man/leonardo-dicaprio-the-best-looks-from-django-to-rome-juliet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leonardo DiCaprio</a> was expected to be nominated for his performance as an astronomy professor Dr. Randall Mindy in Don't Look Up. However, no one from the all-star cast received an acting nomination for their work on the film.

With a whopping twelve nominations, The Power of the Dog went into the awards show as the most nominated film. By the end of the night, however, the film only received one award when Jane Campion won Best Director.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Danish documentary was nominated for international feature film, animated feature film, as well as documentary feature, however, did not receive an award in any category.&nbsp;
