Pitti 96: men's fashion on show

Men's short novel edited by Olivier Saillard, represents a journey in the last thirty years of men's fashion at Palazzo Pitti.

The 96th edition of Pitti Uomo (11-14 June) marks an important birthday: 30 years of the Florentine event that over the years has succeeded in establishing itself internationally as a reference point for menswear and contemporary lifestyle. A milestone that the Pitti Immagine Discovery Foundation celebrates with an exhibition, a short novel in men's fashion (12 June - 29 September), dedicated to the memory of Marco Rivetti, President of Pitti Immagine from 1987 to 1995 and created in collaboration with the Uffizi Galleries. Curated by Olivier Saillard in the Palazzo Pitti Fashion and Costume Museum, the exhibition presents thirty years of men's fashion, from 1989 to the present, seen through the privileged lens of Pitti Uomo. A journey that explores the profound meaning of fashion, through the history and evolution of menswear, combining the excellence of Made in Italy with the Guest Designers, the talents of fashion on the international contemporary scene with the experiences of the great clothing entrepreneurs. "Many of the men, but also of the women, who have made men's fashion a creative subject have moved from Florence" says curator Olivier Saillard . An unmissable opportunity to get to know more about men's fashion and its protagonists and to admire the heads of fashion designers and brands that gave life to the special events of Pitti Uomo from 1989 to 2019 together with a selection of heads of exhibiting companies of the salon which, with its special presentations, characterized this period of time, for a total of about 110 brands . Thanks to the donation of the Discovery Foundation, the exhibition also marks the establishment of a veritable men's fashion collection, the first of its kind in Italy, the result of the generosity of about eighty Italian and foreign brands that have been protagonists of the events special offers from Pitti Uomo from 1989 to today. The heads of the donation and those lent are the memory of the best of creativity expressed by 120 international menswear brands over the last thirty years.
