Thai cuisine is rich in flavors and textures and that is why it has won everyone around the world. It is the result of a century-old fusion of Western and Eastern influences. In addition, Thai cuisine still has the charm of an exquisite presentation. For us Brazilians, it is known for being full of exotic flavors and spices, mixing sweet, salty, acidic and spicy, all at once.
Traces of Chinese and Indian cuisine are present in rice and curry dishes, respectively; but influences from other cultures also left important marks, such as chili peppers, introduced to the region by Portuguese traders in the 16th century. So today, Glauber Britto , an influencer and youtuber, a food enthusiast around the world, brings a recipe adapted from a dish made based on curry and lots of coconut milk: a delicious curry shrimp, with a good touch of pepper and ginger.
(serves 4 people)
To marinate the shrimp:
- 500g of clean, shelled, medium or large shrimp
- Juice of half a lemon
- Salt and pepper
- Cayenne pepper to taste
For the sauce:
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 tablespoon of grated ginger
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon curry
- 1 tablespoon parsley or cilantro flakes
- 400g diced tomatoes, canned, with water
- 160ml of coconut milk
- Fresh parsley, minced
