The world of fashion wouldn&#39;t be the same without the Medusa. In a short time Versace managed to establish itself on the world scene as one of the most token fashion houses, alongside names such as Prada, Louis Vuitton and Chanel. It was 1972 when Gianni Versace arrived in Milan to become Callaghan&#39;s stylist: in his past many hours spent with his mother Franca in the tailor&#39;s shop. Only 6 years passed and in 1978 Gianni together with his brother Santo and Claudio Luti founded Versace . Not long after, the third sister joins the trio: Donatella. The message that the brand wants to launch is one and is perfectly collected in the words of Gianni, questioned about the (unusual) choice of choosing the Medusa as a symbol: &quot; When people look at Versace, they will have to feel terrified, petrified, just like when they look in eyes the Medusa &quot;Eccentric, extravagant, baroque, rock, sensual, unscrupulous, Gianni Versace wants his brand to attract attention, he wants to amaze, he wants to play in a Milan that is about to take flight: the world of the Medusa is a dive in the past of Magna Graecia with a modern perspective. In recent years, Made in Italy acquires another flavor, for Versace it is the ability to combine tailoring and stylistic fashion. Gianni&#39;s journey within the fashion industry is dotted with iconic moments: from the first collection launched on 28 March 1978 with a fashion show at the Palazzo della Permanente in Milan to the pin dress worn by a then unknown Elizabeth Hurley and the monochrome look. of Lady Diana (a great friend of the designer) for a gala in 1996 and her last collection a week before her death in 1997.
