Glenn Martens pushes everything on the irony of his avant-garde couture

Inside a basketball court surrounded by wooden walls there was access to a ring of balloons. Glenn Martens thus welcomed his guests, inviting them, as the invitation said, to live an immersive experience to the rhythm of a fanfare. The men&#39;s outerwear are turned upside down from the top with exaggerated seams and colored satin panels wrapped in tulle, as well as the peaked bomber jackets and sweatshirts attached to the sleeves and shoulders of the sweaters. This visual impact is immediately amplified by another: a low-cut body over high-waisted pants with a V-cut on the front. Instead of the usual snap closure, this body is prolonged by long straps tied around the waist. This concept of binding is developed on shirts and vests but also with skirts and pants, transforming classic pieces into a more playful language. Each piece is an experience and a means of personal expression. The maison&#39;s deconstructive creative vocabulary continues this season with new variations of cult pieces: the lapels of the coats are divided in two to create a pop-up effect, one clip per shoulder blurs the structure of the classic pieces that are always oversized, the sweaters are doubled and the 3D seams on the front panel of the trousers are a reinterpretation of the pieces seen years ago on the Y / PROJECT catwalk . The last part of the show reveals an exclusive collaboration with Canada Goose: a capsule collection of six pieces, including asymmetrical parkas, sweaters and reversible caps. Reviewing Canada Goose&#39;s most iconic garments, this collaboration combines playful proportions with functional outerwear to offer the pinnacle of creativity. In pure Y / PROJECT style, this collection offers a declaration of freedom from any type of trend, remaining faithful to the brand&#39;s roots, while continuing to innovate and amaze.
