Dior's Haute Couture fairy tale: between tarot cards and Garrone's film

A fairy tale film directed by Matteo Garrone and a collection inspired by the realm of the occult in a medieval key

Celebrating the fascinating universe of tarot that Monsieur Dior was so fond of, the Spring-Summer 2021 haute couture collection explores the symbolic magic and pluralistic beauty of the tarot cards loved by Maria Grazia Chiuri. At the center of the film Le Château du Tarot , shot in the Tuscan castle of Sammezzano, directed by director Matteo Garrone , the virtuosic creations in turn evoke the major arcana, clear proof that couture remains the ultimate territory of experimentation and possibility. The first scene opens with a young woman having her tarot cards read. Her face is that of Agnese Claisse , actress and singer daughter of Laura Morante , who draws from the deck of the major arcana the Popess, symbol of secret knowledge, of the duality between the earthly universe and the spiritual universe. In particular, the High Priestess, Justice and the Fool are enhanced by an excellence of savoir-faire that reinvents the Dior dream, like the black velvet Bar jacket with revisited curves; embodies a new attitude that challenges the boundaries of masculine and feminine. In an era in which we feel lost, here is investigating what is the labyrinth of the soul, in this esoteric Middle Ages, made of lace, embroidery, mesh gladiator sandals, hand-painted decorative elements, golden velvets with the zodiac signs and precious jacquards studded with bright stars.
