The mythical red soles and the genesis of a footwear myth

His influences, collaborations and personal history will be explored together with a formidable collection of footwear, including styles never seen before. The Exhibitioniste exhibition at the Palais Dor&eacute;e, celebrates those famous - and imitated - shoes all over the world for their dizzying heels and their unmistakable red sole. The &quot;Loubi&quot; by Christian Louboutin , the 57-year-old Parisian today among the most iconic shoe designers, are the stiletto heels that came back into vogue in the 90s and 2000s. &quot;The heel changes posture, silhouette, body design and it gives you a certain awareness of your body at the same time. That&#39;s why I like heels. But I also like flat shoes, I understand very well that we want different freedoms and so different postures, so to speak. I don&#39;t want people to look at my shoes and thought: How comfortable are they? The important thing for me is that people look at them and think: How beautiful they are? &quot;. This is how the designer who defended the trademark of the red sole Pantone 18-1663TP, who after a court ruling, belongs only to the famous French footwear brand.

Christian Louboutin studies at the Roederer Academy of Art. His creative verve is fueled by the various trips he makes around the world. In India, for example, or in Bhutan or Egypt where he appreciates the exotic beauty of the places. Called back home, he begins to sketch his sketches. The magnificence of the silhouettes he designs is noticed by Charles Jourdan, one of the most famous shoe designers. He subsequently worked in Roger Vivier&#39;s atelier but also actively collaborated with Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent.

At only 27 years old, however, he founded his company. It&#39;s 1991. From there it&#39;s a climb to success, with its first Parisian boutique (in 1992) and its first collection, among which the legendary Love and Trash stand out .

The exhibition is divided into ten sections ranging from Louboutin&#39;s early years to the process of making shoes with a pointed heel inspired by the designer&#39;s fetish. The exhibition ends with an &quot;imaginary museum&quot; of Louboutin&#39;s references and artistic inspirations such as exquisite Wedgwood porcelain, a collection of Egyptian objects by Vivant Denon and surreal works by Joseph Cornell. The Christian Louboutin: L&#39;Exhibition [iste] exhibition - which also included director and photographer David Lynch, Spanish choreographer Blanca Li and Pakistani artist Imran Qureshi, among others - is on display at the Palais de la Porte Dor&eacute;e in Paris, until July 26th.
