Gaurav Gupta unveils The Divine Androgyne , a manifesto collection where couture becomes a metaphysical language, sculpting the unity of the world beyond genders, time and matter.

It all began with a misunderstanding. Following his Paris Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Across the Flame , several media outlets referred to Navkirat Sodhi, <a href="https://shop.gauravguptastudio.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gaurav Gupta</a> &#39;s life partner, as his wife. A quick, almost innocuous label—and yet profoundly revealing. For the Indian designer, this semantic shift acted as an inner spark. Why must we name in order to understand? Define in order to legitimize? Classify in order to exist? Rather than correcting, Gupta chooses to broaden the question. The Divine Androgyne doesn&#39;t address individuals, but the invisible structures that frame our relationships, our identities, our perceptions. At the heart of this collection, the Indian philosophy of Advaita—non-duality—permeates every silhouette. All is one. Opposites don&#39;t clash: they support, balance, and generate one another. Here, time ceases to be linear and becomes matter. Space is no longer distance but architecture. The body, meanwhile, becomes a site of negotiation between cosmic forces and intimate memory. Architecture and anatomy, matter and consciousness, creation and dissolution intertwine in a living, fragile, infinitely precise system. Sewing no longer clothes: it maps. This cartography takes shape thanks to a major innovation of the season: an architecture of embroidered thread, developed in-house using a proprietary textile engineering technique. Thousands of delicate threads assemble into spiderweb-like networks, evoking nervous systems and energy points. On twin silhouettes linked by continuous cords, or on a black dress that hugs the body like an inner constellation, the thread becomes a living anatomy. Each piece, the result of approximately 700 hours of embroidery, pulsates like an organism. Then the collection plunges into an imaginary forest, where blossoming and decay coexist without hierarchy. Nature is never merely decorative; it is structural. Mogra—sacred Indian jasmine—is directly integrated into the architecture of a sculptural wedding dress and a sari-like gown. Here, the bride is not a social promise but a state of rebirth. The ceremony gives way to transformation. More than 900 hours of work and nearly fifty artisans are required to bring these white, solemn, and vibrant forms to life. From the forest to the origin of the world, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/gauravguptaofficial/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gaurav Gupta</a> traces the thread of life. Hybrid surfaces and resin constructions imagine the first stirrings of matter attempting to organize itself into life. A cosmic dress, composed of more than 2,000 resin elements placed one by one, seems to float between the extraterrestrial and the embryonic. Creation is never finished: it remains an experiment in progress. Time, once again, returns as a single continuum. Deconstructed watch components—hands, silver bases, mechanical plates—trace orbits across sculpted corsets and gowns. Inspired by the Vedic vision of cyclical time, the collection collapses past, present, and future into a single form. Preciosa crystals, more than 30,000 throughout the collection, diffuse a controlled, almost cosmic light, revealing the hidden geometry of the moment. This quest for balance culminates in a monumental corset, inspired by temple statues, crafted using a custom-developed fiber-molding technique. Approximately 700 hours separate the initial concept from its final realization. The piece seems to breathe, as if the sacred stone had begun to move, leaving eternity for breath. “Each silhouette is constructed like a living structure,” explains Gaurav Gupta . “We don’t decorate the body: we inscribe consciousness, memory, and movement upon it. These garments are made to appear unfinished, in tension between what is seen and what is felt.” With The Divine Androgyne , the designer erects a cosmology. A world where balance is not an abstract idea, but an inhabited form. Where opposing forces coexist within the same body . And where transformation ultimately becomes the only constant.
