Scenes from a bucolic 20s wedding, flowers and the scent of a garden in bloom for Chanel's Primavera Couture

Chanel&#39;s Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2021 takes us inside a flower garden - reconstructed inside the Grand Palais in Paris - made of floral gazebos, where a bucolic wedding takes place, in the style of the 20s. &quot;I love big family reunions, when all generations come together. It&#39;s so warm. There&#39;s this spirit in Chanel today. Because Chanel is also like a family,&quot; says Virginie Viard, Chancel Creative Director. A spirit to be celebrated more than ever with the simultaneous reopening of the Haute Couture Salons at 31 rue Cambon, redecorated by Jacques Grange and inspired by the very feminine charm of the original living rooms imagined by Gabrielle Chanel, complete with Coromandel screens and tables &quot; sheaves of wheat &quot;by Goossens.

The bride may have just stepped out of a 1920s photo, with her veil, her long dress in ecru satin crepe with a train, embroidered by Lesage with rhinestone and pearl butterflies, plus a wing collar and cuffs from the shirt. Dutch photographer, director and graphic designer Anton Corbijn photographed the collection in the Haute Couture Salons in the style of family portraits and also directed the show&#39;s film. And since there is no party without music, the man who designed so many cult music album covers also shot the teasers in the maison&#39;s Haute Couture ateliers with images in the style of the band&#39;s posters. Her images representing the monogram and the camellia, the symbol of Chanel, are also featured on the show invitation.

This idea of dance, freedom and summer evening parties is embodied by the shifting petticoats, flounced cr&ecirc;pe georgette flounces on a pale pink dress, accompanied by an entirely ruffled bolero, and two-tone Mary-Jane with double strap in the style shoes worn by tango dancers, or wedge ankle boots decorated with a subtle golden grid similar to a quilt. A long detachable skirt in white daisy lace, which frees the legs, is worn open over a dress of the same lace with integrated cape. The Maison d&#39;art, partners of the maison, were involved in the thirty-two looks of the collection. Atelier Montex created the embroidered macram&eacute; of a long dress in pearl gray tulle while delicate feathers from the Maison Lemari&eacute; embellish the organza flounces of a black tweed sheath dress. The movement is also illustrated through the trouser suits whose jacket is inspired by men&#39;s vests. &quot;I always think about what women would like to have in their wardrobe today,&quot; says Virginie. And if it is true that flounced dresses make us dream of dancing in the moonlight, it is also true that during the day to risk a men&#39;s vest instead of a shirt or jacket, is perhaps the idea, given the moment, closest to which makes us think. In the audience a few friends of the brand and testimonials: from Charlotte Casiraghi to Penelope Cruz, from Lily Rose Depp to Vanessa Paradis, as well as actresses Kristen Stewart and Marion Cotillard.
