A collection inspired by the beauty of an empty city, a coming-of-edge story, a spiritual journey: discover the new Cecilie Bahnsen FW21 collection

A spiritual journey aiming for the light:&nbsp;the new Cecilie Bahnsen Fall Winter 2021 collection it&rsquo;s a coming-of-age story about a new generation. Presented through a fashion film &ldquo;The City&rdquo; produced in collaboration with Moon and the artist-illustrator Yann Le Bec, ( with music courtesy of the composer August Rosenb), the collection express herself with a mix of grace, enthusiasm and natural elegance. Many wondrous clothes appears on the screen celebrating feminine beauty.

The first chapter starts in an aseptic atmosphere where nothing moves except by the models, pacing through the rooms in their dresses. The palette weaves through grays, black and white. It&rsquo;s immediately clear that for this collection, Cecilie developed new silhouettes and explored more form-fitting, playing with different types of&nbsp;belts. This time the designer employed layers to liven up next winter, merged them into a single item of clothing. Moving forward with the presentation, a desert parking lot appears, it&#39;s&nbsp;night&nbsp;time and&nbsp;in the background city&rsquo;s luminous lights, pale lemon with glistens of orange embroidery starts to pop up marking the beginning of the path out&nbsp;of&nbsp;darkness. Colours (and dresses) gradually leaves behind neutral tones to fade into pale pink and sunrises hues.This setting&#39;s changes represent&nbsp;the&nbsp;new model of delivery, in which the collection&nbsp;will be made available in four drops, spread through the season by colour. In Cecilie&#39;s words:&nbsp;&quot;I was drawn to the beauty of an empty city &ndash; with an imposing and industrial feel. In a very natural way,&nbsp;the mood and the storyboards for the film became the inspiration for the colours and mood of the designs&quot;

For the first time ever,&nbsp;there was no moodboard pinned up in the studio in Copenhagen, the designer and her team spent months surrounded by&nbsp;haute couture fabrics (synonymous with the label), trying to understand how to make &quot;daily&quot; clothes with luxury fabrics. The results ended up being&nbsp;quilted silks, floral fil-coup&eacute;, pleated organza and matelass&eacute; that falls on the&nbsp;body like the softest paper, light yet voluminous. &quot;It became super important to me how the fabrics felt&nbsp;against the skin &ndash; the texture and touch. Our lives are so digital and distant in this moment, I wanted the&nbsp;fabrics to be a contrast. When you put on a piece from the collection, I want you to feel the beauty of the fabric,&nbsp;to be comforted by it. This sense of comfort is my idea of luxury.After this month in the studio we had a creative challenge, to sit down, to edit and create a collection that felt&nbsp;coherent. I wanted it to be the most beautiful collection we&rsquo;ve done &ndash; every detail, every silhouette, the fabrics,&nbsp;all of it to have the touch of the hand.&quot;&nbsp;Her propensity to play with layers, volumes and magnificence textures&nbsp;has cemented Cecilie Bahnsen as a pillar of romantic wardrobe and fairy clothing.&nbsp;

THE FALL WINTER 2021 COLLECTION

Once again, Cecilie proved to be the ultimate&nbsp;team player collaborating with two different names:&nbsp;Mackintosh&nbsp;and&nbsp;Hereu.&nbsp;With the first one, they reworked the traditional anorak,&nbsp;creating a piece&nbsp;in shades inspired by the Nordic winter light, with billowing sleeves and&nbsp;a detachable fil-coupe bib-style detail. On the other hand, with Hereu the focus was on footwear.&nbsp;Sharing a common passion for&nbsp;craftsmanship, the final product (designed in&nbsp;four different styles) ended up becoming the evergreen shoes for all the romantic-souls out there. A&nbsp;stompy cushiony rubber-soled&nbsp;loafer embellished&nbsp;by Cecilie&rsquo;s friend, the artist Nina N&oslash;rgaard.
