Raised in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn Heights, Jennifer Connelly almost never left New York, where she lives with her husband, British actor Paul Bettany and three children. «It is a city that I love to madness. Try to spend a day wandering through its streets. So, without making plans. Let yourself be carried away. Certainly something will happen. Over the years the city has not changed much: yes, some beautiful building has sprung up in the old crumbling quarters, but the energy is still the same ». The actress is like New York. The seriousness, the marked intelligence and the vague sense of mystery that emanates are, for almost 35 years, the true stylistic code of his acting. Since his first role, in "Once Upon a Time in America" by Sergio Leone, when he was only 14 years old, he participated with silent constancy in films that made cinema history, such as Darren's "Requiem for a Dream" Aronofsky (2000) "A beautiful mind" by Ron Howard (2001) and "Blood Diamond" by Edward Zwick (2006). This year she was cast as Chiren in "Alita - Angel of Battle", adaptation of the manga "Gunnm" signed by Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron. Next year we will see it in the highly anticipated sequel of "Top Gun", directed by Joseph Kosinski, and in the dystopian series "Snowpiercer", adaptation of the eponymous Bong Joon-ho film of 2013, in turn taken from the comic book series French of 1982 "Le Transperceneige" by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette, which recounts the class struggle on a train in perpetual motion where what remains of humanity is locked up after a new ice age. In passing through Paris, Louis Vuitton's ambassador talks about her acting profession.
L'Officiel Italy : What do you like about Paris?
Jennifer Connelly: Its beauty. It's an incredible city, able to take my breath away every time I go back. There is no magical place like Paris to get lost in the streets and alleys. In addition, a very dear friend of mine lives here.
LO: It refers to Nicolas Ghesquière, with whom he has been working for some time.
JC: Yes. We met ... my God, more than fifteen years have already passed! His work for Louis Vuitton is incredible. The silhouettes, the materials, are all spectacular. As time went on, we got closer and closer.
LO: Ghesquière has a sense of futuristic fashion, sometimes even to the limits of science fiction. A genre that you know well.
JC: During my career I have worked in very different genres and tend to be attracted to provocative films. I like spending time with a character that can have a radically different point of view from mine, that conquers my imagination and makes me think.
