Thierry Mugler was consecrated and made his name in the 80s and 90s. His eccentric fashion conquered the world of haute couture and dressed big names like Demi Moore in the iconic "Indecent Proposal" (1993), Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and the Brazilian Betty Lago (she was his great muse!). But the great asset of the designer and that made him famous on a global scale, was the launch of the perfume Angel in 1992, considered one of the most legendary fragrances of all time.
But as Mugler's perfume business grew, sales for his clothing line began to decline. Their designs no longer corresponded to the desires of the turn of the 90s and fashion only wanted to know about Marc Jacobs, Versace, Calvin Klein and Perry Ellis. To circumvent the crisis, Mugler sold his eponymous brand to Clarins. Unfortunately, neither the luxury group managed to maintain production and in 2003 the label clothing area was closed, leaving only perfumes.
But as we are still obsessed with the past decades (much in part due to the unreal creative demand of social networks), in recent years a series of celebrities, from Lady Gaga to Kim Kardashian, have started to ask for pieces from the brand's archive, sowing a new desire. In the fall-winter 2011 season, Mugler made its triumphant return to Paris Fashion Week under Nicola Formichetti.
After a few changes, the current stylist is Casey Cadwallader, responsible for delving deep into the brand's archives and bringing from there the best that Thierry Mugler has ever produced, contextualizing it for the current fashion. 2020 and 20021 were excellent years and the brand began to be seen frequently on red carpets, always calling attention for its bold look.
Now a "new" dress full of clippings from the spring-summer2021 collection has been the center of attention. See who used the piece:
