&quot;In 1925, Salvatore designed leopard-print pumps that blended with stockings for silent film actress Lola Todd. The image we have in the archive portrays her wearing leopard-print pumps, leopard-print tights, and leopard-print coats,&quot; creative director Maximilian Davis recounts backstage. &quot;I was more curious to understand why? What was the reason for wearing this type of material? At that time, fabrics, materials, workmanship, and finishes were imported from Africa and the Caribbean as a sign of wealth and status.&quot; For the other part of Ferragamo &#39;s Spring/Summer 2026 women&#39;s and men&#39;s collection, he explains that he was inspired by the work of cartoonist, illustrator, and artist John Held Jr., active in the 1920s. &quot;He created a series of covers for Life magazine featuring flapper women presented in two ways: one very elegant, the other more suited to warm weather, conveying a sense of freedom and even rebellion against society. Women emerging from a Victorian era of corsets and constricting clothing, embracing a more relaxed style. So I imagined men and women at home, in pajamas, amidst dressing gowns, satin, velvet, and loungewear. Many of the images and research that emerged, however, featured embroidery and pavé jewelry, bijoux inspired by Art Deco. And then, in the collection, we included a section inspired by the Flemish Army, with a wide variety of fabrics, including liquid silks and satins, combined with tailoring.&quot; A zoot suit style emerges that recalls the dandyism of the Harlem Renaissance in Ferragamo&#39;s version.

The accessories are complemented by shoes with sculptural S-heels, an evolution of the F-heel, a caged pump inspired by the Kimo model, and pointed-toe pumps accented with Gancini chains. Satin boudoir mules with floral embroidery, sandals with satin bows, remodeled men&#39;s derby shoes, and shiny leather slippers are also available. The beloved Hug Bag returns with new versions in patent leather, nubuck, braided, and crocodile print, joined by a bag inspired by a folded scarf, clutches with a Gancini buckle, and feather-decorated styles. The Soft Bag features undulating profiles, while men&#39;s bags showcase masterful craftsmanship in the woven panels of the Hug and sailor bags. With this collection, Maximilian Davis intertwines Ferragamo&#39;s legacy with its Caribbean roots, transforming archives, cultural influences, and historical references into a coherent language for the brand. A story that celebrates memory while never ceasing to look forward.
