The show dedicated to Chanel's most high-end craftsmanship is staged in a fairytale castle. With a romantic-rock vision and a touch of Renaissance elegance

&ldquo;Walking at the Ch&acirc;teau de Chenonceau, at the&ldquo; castle of women &rdquo;, was an obvious choice for Virginie Viard , the Creative Director of Maison Chanel. &quot;It is a castle designed and lived in by women, including Diana de Poitiers and Catherine de &#39;Medici. And the emblem of Caterina de&#39; Medici was a monogram composed of two intertwined C&#39;s, just like that of Chanel&quot;, confides Viard. &quot;We don&#39;t know if Coco was directly inspired by her, but it&#39;s very likely because she admired women of the Renaissance so much. Her taste for lace ruffs and the aesthetics of some of her jewelry come from there. After all, this place is part of the history of Chanel. &quot; In 1936, Gabrielle Chanel wrote an article about women of that era:&quot; I have always been struck by a strange feeling of sympathy and admiration towards women who lived in the era from Francis I to Louis XIII, perhaps because I find them all grandiose, with a magnificent simplicity and a majesty imbued with onerous duties. &quot;In the large gallery where the show took place, the black and white checkered pattern on the floor is reminiscent of a life-size game of checkers and appears on sequin miniskirts, as well as on a long skirt in geometric tweed with patchwork fringes worn with a black and white jacquard sweater. I also asked Atelier Montex to make embroideries from the castle that recalled a children&#39;s toy with rhinestones. Because I like that everything is confused, all the different eras, between the Renaissance and romanticism, between rock and something very feminine, it&#39;s all very Chanel. &quot;An enthusiastic Virginie Viard tells us. The aura of esotericism, the presence of the Renaissance noblewoman and the contemporary icon of the house, Kristen Stewart , made the show a fairytale moment, even if admired digitally, the physicality seemed to touch at every vault of the top models, first of all the Italian Vittoria Ceretti.The key looks are completed by chains and pearls, which become belts, microbags hung around the neck like precious necklaces.
