It was one of the most anticipated events of this very first 100% digital Fashion Week: the Dior haute couture fall-winter 2020-2021 show . A magical collection staged in a short film called Le Mythe Dior directed by Matteo Garrone , who recently signed a new adaptation of Pinocchio.
Symbolizing the creativity of fashion in the post-Covid era, the house of Avenue Montaigne has unveiled its creations in a universe combining haute couture and mythology, a real call to escape while these last weeks have shown themselves particularly anxiogens. The dresses, imagined in real sizes and doll sizes, are considered as second skin for these magical creatures including mermaids. A nod to the period in which this presentation takes part? Miniature creations coming to life and traveling in a dreamlike imagination, inspired by the idea of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne which imagined in 1945, after World War II, the Théâtre de la Mode: an exhibition of dresses dolls supposed to travel through a world at war, a world deprived of freedom and rationed in life and fabrics.
To imagine these 37 silhouettes, Maria Grazia Chiuri wanted to celebrate the work and the journey of five indomitable Surrealist figures: Lee Miller , Dora Maar , Dorothea Tanning , Leonora Carrington and Jacqueline Lamba . Visionaries, these personalities have transcended their role as " muses " by asserting their vocation as artists with dazzling talents. Go behind the scenes of this short film, discover the secrets of creating this collection, simply exceptional.
