“7 Deaths of Maria Callas” the performative work of Marina Abramovitć

At the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, contemporary artist Marina Abramovitć will exhibit her new work-performance dedicated to Maria Callas. Riccardo Tisci creative director of Burberry made the costumes.

At the same time as the play “Maria Callas. Letters and memories " (directed by Tom Volf staged on August 26 at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto) in which the Wonder Woman of L'Officiel Italia Monica Bellucci is starring, it's coming the performative work by Marina Abdamović entitled " 7 Deaths of Maria Callas ”. The contemporary plowman and exponent of performance art is the protagonist and interpreter of one of the most famous and loved sopranos in the world, Maria Callas . The new opera that will be presented at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich is inspired by the 7 opera heroines who die for love, all played by Maria Callas throughout her career: Tosca, Lucia, Butterfly, Violetta, Carmen, Norma and Destdemona. "I will perform seven deaths in the opera. I will die seven times. I will work with a different director for each scene. Each creator will mark the scene and my performance, with his own unique vision," says Abramović. On August 25, 2020, the official teaser was released announcing the premiere on September 1, 2020, the actor Willem Dafoe also appears in the video .

For the occasion, the contemporary artist reconfirms the collaboration with Riccardo Tisci , helm of the Burberry Maison who studied the costumes together with Marina, the design was a joint creative experience, the goal was to reinterpret the dramatic and theatrical costumes with accents contemporary and modern.
